Description
The BCG 120 Roll Film to 116 Roll Film Adapter Kit lets you use your choice of 120 film in any camera designed for 116 film format.
116 rollfilm was introduced in 1899 and discontinued in 1984 and now you can use your 116 camera again. Camera modification is not needed and there’s no film jamming.
The adapters were designed and are 3D printed by Chuck at the BCG shop using a carbon fiber infused PLA plastic.
All of the adapters have a 116 slot.
The kit comes with four adapters, two for the full 120 film spool and 2 for the 120 takeup spool. An empty 120 spool for takeup is included.
How To Use
1: Load the the empty spool (take-up spool) with two adapters mounted at both ends.
2: Mount the other two adapters on the unexposed film spool and put it in the camera.
3: Insert the paper leader into the take-up spool and roll up a little until it’s well inserted.
How To Wind The Film – DO NOT Use Camera’s Red Window
With the camera open, start carefully winding the film, while keeping some tension on the full spool of film so it doesn’t unravel, until the big vertical arrow is at the beginning of the film plane. Insert the film holder into the camera and close your camera.
Engage the film winding knob and turn the film winding knob 8 times (16 half turns). This will advance the film to the correct place for the first photo.
After the first photo is taken, advance the film by 2.5 knob’s turns (or 5 half turns). Do this for photo 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
After the 6th and final picture is taken, keep winding until you feel that the roll has completely wound onto the takeup spool.
It is a good idea to open and empty the camera in subdued light or a dark bag/room in case the film is loose on the takeup spool. Some old cameras tend to do this.
A little trial and error is to be expected.
An empty 120 spool for film take-up is included.
